Premiership Football Match Results- 2007-2008 Season

Date -------------Home----------------Away-----------------Score

24-11-2007----- Arsenal ----------Wigan Athletic ------------2-0

The Gunners are at the top of the table with 33 points from 13 matches and are three points clear with one game in hand, over nearest rivals Manchester United, who lost 1-0 at Bolton Wanderers.
The Latics are down in the relegation zone with eight points.
The Gunners without suspended Spanish international Csec Fabregas and injured France midfielder Mathieu Flamini, started with the untried midfield pairing of Denilson and Lassana Diarra.
Wigan put up a brave display and their battling attitude, would have pleased incoming boss Steve Bruce, who was watching form the stands.
Emanuel Adebayor and Theo Walcott came very close in finding the target for the Gunners but all credit to ex-Newcastle United stopper-back Titus Bramble whose timely blocks kept the score line goalless in the first half.
The Latics finally succumbed in the 83rd minute off a clever move initiated by skipper William Gallas.
Nicklas Bendtner who just entered for injured Theo Walcott in the 80th minute, passed the ball for Bacary Sagna whose teasing cross was guided into the nets by defender Gallas.
Minutes later, Thomas Rosicky playing his 50th game for Gunners, doubled the score, finishing superbly from a narrow angle after Nicklas Bendtner had provided the pass.
